So… The McRib is back!

Its here and then its gone, so when its here I try to get one. My old friend Andy had a good statement about the McRib and it perfectly illustrates the whole experience. You get one and its all exciting cause its been a whiiiiiiiiiiile (Cue: STAIND). First bite is awesome! Its everything you remember it to be. Second bite is mmhmmm.. by the third bite you’re thinking, “Why the hell did I get this thing?” What I used to do was get a plain grilled chicken sammich and put BBQ sauce on it. Tastes pretty much the same and 1/3 of the calories! But Mcds quietly did away with the Grilled Chicken. I wish they’d bring it back. And not for a limited time. When I worked at McDs (1995-1999) we used to get a monthly theme sandwich. Always rotating and it was something new to try all the time. Gone are those days where variety reigned. Now its a cog in the machine or an adjustment to a coffee bar. Bring be back the good ol’ Hot N’ Now! (Btw… only ONE of those restaurants exists now. Its in Sturgis, Michigan near the Indiana border. It still tastes like you remember! I last was there in 2018. I should trek back to it. What you do is get yourself some Hot N Now and take it to the nearby town of Coldwater, Michigan and take in a drive inn movie there. Its a nostalgia day trip that I recommend all take at some point if they can)

On the art front, I’ve been busy! I just finished coloring Pleasant Life issue #6 and have just now started issue #7! Don’t worry… you’ll see the books soon. I know everyone is waiting to find out what happened after the cliffhanger of issue #3. But anyway, working digitally has given me a lot of space to have some fun! For example in issue 6 there is an arcade scene. I zoomed right in and did some fun graphics on the arcade games themselves, all digital! Check it out:

I also have been taking the time to do some fun pieces for possible prints in 2025 convention season or just for fun/portfolio. Like this TREK piece of the three boys, ala the Beatles in the LIFE magazine article:

After being on the fence for so long about switching to digital, I gotta say I am really enjoying the advantages it gives me. My linework and coloring has gotten so much better. If only I had this twenty years ago, I woulda kicked more ass! I’m really enjoying it! I mean, check out this new page from PLEASANT LIFE, where I faithfully recreate some of the buildings from Downtown Mt. Pleasant… my hometown!

I’ve hit a nice stride when it comes to the work. I got one whole issue drawn in a month… which NEVER happens! And I did it with this last week of me working a total of 62 hours at the day job! (We’re in super overtime mode this week and probably into February if all goes according to the trend that occurs normally at the place) So I am trying to get away from the job stuff as much as I can and bury my head into the work. I think the results are showing some positive trends, don’t you think?

I hope everyone is staying warm here in North America. Its great for me cause I barely leave the house anymore. Saves money that way too! And I keep the heat down by just putting on layers.
