BLOG: Music Is Life!
Hey friends! Feels weird to have a Monday and no new Pleasant Life comic, am I right? We’ll I’ll try to make up for with with a blog. More comics are coming. I got issue 7-8 in the can. I’d like to get at least issue 9 pencilled if not inked and then I’ll word balloon and upload em here for you. Goal is to not have any interruptions in the next bath as we head toward the conclusion of the big story arc.
So Lily is out of the onezee. She’s happy about it. Life is slowly returning to normal. She still has the rash but its not nearly as bad. I am reading it likely will go away on its own, so that is what I am hoping. In addition to everything else she has peed on and ruined now, she peed on my STIMPY shirt (its in the trash now) and broke one of my beloved box fans. (sigh) Why do I love her so much?
My new freelance card set arrived. I was told I was doing 20 for a Red Sonja set and 20 for a Vampirella set. But somehow I got sent 90 Red Sonja blanks! But I was told to just do my 40 out of these and send back the rest. So I will be working on that all this week. Expect some pics of that coming up. I think this is my 3rd Red Sonja card set for Dynamite. Always great to draw some scantily clad red heads kicking ass.
I had to order some stuff for the cats from Amazon. To fulfill the $25 and ship next day free thingie I had to add on something from my lists to pad the price. So I pulled the tricker on this one. It actually is a really nicely bound volume with gold foil on the cover and outer pages. I read this back in college. Looking forward to revisiting it.
I LOVE me some documentaries and I’ve had these on the list for a while I watched the Billy Joel and the Pee Wee docs. Billy Joel was probably the first musical artist I got into when I was a kid. I played his Greatest Hits on my Michael Jackson record player (no joke. It came with a microphone and everything). Also I was a big Pee Wee Herman fan as a kid. Good to learn more about the man himself.
On Saturday I went to the Masonic Temple in Detroit to see Garbage perform live. They say it is their last headline tour, so who knows if this is the last time they will be playing in Michigan. The economics of being a musician just suck nowadays. Also they are getting older. (Butch Vig just turned 70) Prices are crazy. So all considered, I don’t blame them. 30 years is a hell of a run. STARCRAWLER opened for them.
I got there pretty early and was able to get decently close. Pics make it seem further away than I was. They put on a good show.
Pretty crazy to finally see them. It wasn’t on a bucket list for me to go, but I bought the tickets on a whim in an effort to help me get out of the house more. I was trying to get out of it up until the day of. But I am glad I got over my anxiety and went. I fell in love with their first record when I listened to it on repeat when I was moving into my first apartment way back in 1996. Some of the deeper cuts on that record are my favorite and they played a couple of them at the show!
The great Butch Vig:
After the show, my back and feet hurt for the next two days! I’m just not what I used to be. I got another concert this next weekend… but luckily its seating. And we got FRONT ROW on the side! Looking forward to it. Its DREAM THEATER, a band who definitely was on my Bucket List to see. And now that they are reunited with my favorite drummer, it was a must to score some tickets. I’m going with my hetero life mate of well over 30 years. Looking forward to it.
But til then, its a long work week ahead of me. Plus I gotta clean this place up and get these cards done. And probably some more drawing on my stuff in there too. Onward we go!
Stay sane out there, T

You go to the best live shows!
