BLOG: Getting Along Fine

Hey friends! Its been a bit since we chatted last. I know some of you miss the comic posts. They will be coming back, I promise. Right now I have been pretty focused on getting STARSLAM BEYOND done. I’m at the big climax and there is sooooooo much drawing involved. You won’t believe it. I’d share but its all spoilers at this point so I cannot. Well… okay… maybe just one…

I also had to take a break on PLEASANT LIFE to finish up art on another card set for Dynamite. This being another run at Red Sonja. Here’s some of the cards I did:

As always I will have extra cards to sell privately, when I can sell them (typically 60-90 days after the set is released).

But back on my comics talk, I can say that I did start the art on issue 9 of PLEASANT LIFE! Here’s a peek:

Speaking of cats, my Lily Munster is still having issues with the spot on her belly. I cannot afford another vet visit so I am using alternative medicine and hoping she gets better. It does seem to be improving, which is good.

I feel bad for her being stuck in the onezee for so long (Actually she chewed through two of them. This is the third! And after this pic was taken, she chewed holes at the top of it trying to escape! It since has been sewn/taped shut. Oh Lily… Destructive Lily…) But I hope she returns to her normal silly self soon.

This past weekend I went back down south to visit my dad again. (I was just there a month ago) A nice 7 hour drive to South Illinois and I made it back safely again. I’m finally getting more confident in driving like I used to and the anxiety is getting easier to manage. Having a major car accident which you almost died in will do that to you. But It was great to see Dad again. He was super thrilled. He’s every bit of 80 years old but he gets along pretty good. Here we are shopping in the Walmart for him while I was there.

I hope I make it to 80 and beyond as well. It would be nice to have lots of years left when statistically my health would probably prevent that. However on this new fasting/life change I am down 11 pounds. That is like throwing a chair off the Titanic, but at least I am on my way. Again. Maybe THIS TIME?!?!? Hope always springs eternal. But, I am in a better head space than I have been in a long time. All throughout the spring and summer, I’ve been feeling really good, as the world burns around me. I’m trying. Really trying.

But at least things are steady. I am working hard at the day job, the comics, and enjoying new books, movies and music when I can. All those things help me to heal!

(Funny thing about this shirt… I was wearing it at the Post Office a while back and a guy pointed to it and said he used to work on the tour with Miles Davis when he went over to Japan. He knew him pretty well. We talked about him for a while and I quizzed him stealthily to see if he was full of it, but he wasn’t. He knew the facts and dates, so he was pretty legit. What a small friggin’ world, eh?)

So anyway, back at it. I got pages to finish. New comics will come soon. I appreciate your patience and hope you are enjoying the break. I know you will love what is coming! I serve up a nice plate of food when I put pen to paper (or apple pen to ipad).
