BLOG: Daydreamin and Readin...

Hey friends. touching base again. I hope your week is going well!

Last time we talked about how I was desiring a change. I really have been leaning toward looking at relocating to a different place. At the very least would be Grand Rapids. A larger city, more to do and more jobs in my field (and they pay more). But my ultimate dream would be Chicago! At least, I think it is. I got some time to think on it and decide. Such a move won’t happen for a year or two. By then I am hoping to whip my life into some better shape (AKA Health stuff that has long plagued me). But I do plan a trip into Chicago this summer to visit some places and scout. Really looking forward to an actual vacation. Its been a few years since I’ve done anything like that.

Meanwhile at home, the overtime season at the day job just ended so I got my life back again, starting today! What will I do with an extra ten hours to myself during the week? I am hoping to go to warp speed on the comic projects. I’m 92 pages into STARSLAM. I gotta letter issues 4-6 of PLEASANT LIFE. And who knows, maybe a Kickstarter at some point! I haven’t ruled it out. I also gotta do some things to up my table set up for Capital City Comic Con in July. I’ve been ham and egging it for a few years now and want to look more streamlined and professional. Less slovenly creator. Plans are in motion. I also hope to continue to pair down the collection and get ready to do some spring cleaning. (Spring… IS coming, right??? I’m over this weather!)

Meanwhile to keep my sanity from the BS in the news, I step away when I can. Just need to stop the noise. I got sucked in too. (How could you not?) and I just found myself getting angry about it all. Pointless cause there is nothing I can do and it was causing arguments. When will I ever learn? Bless me universe for I hath sinned. So I closed shop and am working on getting through the piles of books I have to read. I just finished a re-read of “A LIT FUSE” by Nat Segaloff, which you can get right here: AMAZON

And I finished a short story collection called “CATALYSTS” By Bill Gauthier. Some great short stories and I cannot recommend it enough. Bill isn’t afraid to “go there,” And his work deserves your attention. Get it here: AMAZON And look at his substack here: https://billgauthier.substack.com/

In comics, I’ve been enjoying the new issues of the EC HORROR styled “EPITAPHS FROM THE ABYSS” by Oni Press. If you have a local comic shop, stop in and score of those. Also you gotta get “FORTUNE AND GLORY 2” By Brian Michael Bendis. I re-read the first volume very often as it tells some crazy (and true) stories about an indie comics creator trying to pitch to the crazy world of Hollywood! This sequel many years later deals with Brian’s work (or not work) on the famed Spiderman the musical! But it mostly is a love letter to comics. A good read and I cannot recommend it enough. The only thing new that I have watched is that I just finished season 21 of South Park finally. Now in the middle of season 22. A couple more and I will finally be caught up with the rest of the world. Took me long enough, right?

After I get through this week, I gotta spend this weekend cleaning house and hopefully be able to relax and work on my model kits. Ooooohhh Thug life!
